For the Next Lesson: 1 Corinthians 1:4-9

1. Warm-up: What is the best gift anyone has ever given you? Why was it so special?

2.Read verse 4. The key phrase for verses 4-8 is “I give thanks”. Who does Paul give thanks to, and how often does he give thanks? For what gift does Paul give thanks? Why do you think Paul is so thankful? Why is this gift so special to him?

3.Read verse 5-8. What are the results of God’s gift according to verses 5-8? There are several results, so make sure to take the time to list them all. As you consider each result, how do these results show-up in our everyday living? How do they encourage us in our walk through life?

4.Read verse 9. What is the main point of this verse? Why is the faithfulness of God so important for us to remember? How does believing in God’s faithfulness affect our perspective on life? How can we fellowship with Jesus in our personal lives? How can we fellowship with Jesus together as a church, with our friends, and in our small groups?

5.So what. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest), how would you rank your gratefulness for God’s grace on a regular day in your life? What can you do to grow in being grateful for God’s grace? What can you do to grow in believing in God’s faithfulness in the average, everyday rhythms of life? If you absolutely believed in the faithfulness of God for every detail of your life, how would your life change?
